Stairway to Misty’s

This fall, on October 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th I will be participating in the popular Whatcom Artist’s Studio Tour. I will be here, in the studio at Donette, on those weekend dates… LIVE…. to feature my latest work.

As I am not one to stand still, or be content with my photographic work, I am working on yet another new style and look of images in a smaller format. Below is a hint of what you will see featured on the Studio Tour along with my “Impressionist Style” images. Click on the image below for a larger view.

Layer Study

Recently I was very excited to attend a workshop featuring John Paul Caponigro. John is a superb photographic artist with a distinctive style that masterfully crafts subtle shapes, textures and colors into his creative work. He is one of the photographic elite that I follow and admire. We happen to have lunch together, and I had the opportunity to talk with him about his book “Photoshop Master Class.” I read so thoroughly that it started falling apart.
I enjoyed some great take aways from our time together. I am incorporating them into anew body of work for the future. The image you see here titled “Layer Study” is one I created recently. I would not have been able to achieve this subtle stylish “look” without his characteristic guidance.

The original image for this was captured with my iPhone. You can see the piece as originally created in my section called “Me, My Town and My iPhone.”  This new found love for Impressionism has me wondering off into some abstract realms, where space, color, texture and composition come into play to create art from art. Enjoy.
